Driving an electric car has been heralded as a moral virtue and, of late, the solution to record-high gas prices.

There's certainly a benefit from curbing air pollution, but the question is, at what cost?

In a column highlighted by Powerline blogger John Hinderaker, engineer and energy expert Ronald Stein examines the source of the power and the materials in batteries. He concludes EVs are bad for the environment, and serious ethical questions are raised by the conditions under which the materials are mined.

Stein argues in a column titled "Is it ethical to purchase a lithium battery powered EV? " that entire mountains are eliminated by just one lithium supply mine.

"Each mine usually consists of thirty-five to forty humongous 797 Caterpillar haul trucks along with hundreds of other large equipment, " he writes. "Each 797 uses around half a million gallons of diesel a year. So, with an inventory of just thirty-five the haul trucks alone are using 17.5 million gallons of fuel a year for just one lithium site."

A typical EV battery, Stein notes, weighs 1, 000 pounds, contains 25 pounds of lithium, 60 pounds of nickel, 44 pounds of manganese, 30 pounds of cobalt, 200 pounds of copper and 400 pounds of aluminum, steel and plastic. Inside are over 6, 000 individual lithium-ion cells.

"It should concern you that all those toxic components come from mining, " he writes. "For instance, to manufacture each EV auto battery, you must process 25, 000 pounds of brine for the lithium, 30, 000 pounds of ore for the cobalt, 5, 000 pounds of ore for the nickel, and 25, 000 pounds of ore for copper. All told, you dig up 500, 000 pounds of the earth’s crust for just one battery."

Stein is the author of the 2021 book "Clean Energy Exploitations: Helping Citizens Understand the Environmental and Humanity Abuses That Support Clean Energy."
Stein argues that fossil fuels are vastly cleaner, partly because they are so efficient.

And once the mining and consequent environmental degradation are complete, electric vehicles in reality run overwhelmingly on fossil fuels and nuclear power.

An EV, after all, doesn't make electricity, it only stores electricity that is produced elsewhere. And the sources primarily are coal, uranium, natural gas-powered plants and occasionally the wind and the sun.

"So, to say an EV is a zero-emission vehicle is not at all valid as 80 percent of the electricity generated to charge the batteries is from coal, natural gas, and nuclear, " writes Stein.

In effect, 20% of the EVs on the road are powered by coal, 40% by natural gas and 20% by nuclear power.

Hinderaker adds that the extraordinary volume of mining needed to produce electric vehicles not only is "environmentally disastrous, " it also carries "large human costs."

The cobalt that is needed for every electric vehicle comes mostly from the Congo, where the United Nations Children’s Fund estimates 40, 000 children are working in cobalt mines.

And Hinderaker emphasizes that the solar panels that produce some of the energy stored in EV batteries are mostly produced by slave labor in China.

"And, for what it’s worth, Chinese solar panels are produced with coal-fired power plants."

Hinderaker concludes:

"Green" energy is a catastrophically bad idea. I think many people understand that wind and solar power and electric vehicles are economically ruinous, but when we also take into account environmental degradation and child and slave labor, one can seriously question whether it is immoral to buy an electric car.

The Democrats are going to cheat again in the mid-term elections. We know this because they are beginning to brag about winning despite having the worst record in history.

This weekend the Associated Press reported the following:

Democrats are going to hold onto the House after November’s midterm elections. They will pick up as many as four seats in the Senate, expanding their majority and overcoming internal dissent that has helped stifle their agenda.

As the challenges confronting President Joe Biden intensify, his predictions of a rosy political future for the Democratic Party are growing bolder. The assessments, delivered in speeches, fundraisers and conversations with friends and allies, seem at odds with a country that he acknowledged this week was “really, really down, ” burdened by a pandemic, surging gas prices and spiking inflation.

Biden’s hopeful outlook tracks with a sense of optimism that has coursed through his nearly five-decade career and was at the center of his 2020 presidential campaign, which he said was built around restoring the “soul of America.” In a lengthy Oval Office interview with The Associated Press on Thursday, Biden said part of his job as president is to “be confident.”

“Because I am confident, ” he said. “We are better positioned than any country in the world to own the second quarter of the 21st century. That’s not hyperbole. That’s a fact.”

While presidents often try to emphasize the positive, there is a risk in this moment that Biden contributes to a dissonance between Washington and people across the country who are confronting genuine and growing economic pain.

This article was shared across the corrupt mainstream media and even tweeted by ABC. However, for some reason, the tweet was taken down. Democrat-led ABC deleted a tweet where they shared a piece from this article over the weekend.

The ABC tweet was followed by other media outlets sharing the same.

It appears the far-left media is prepping America for another election steal. There is no other way to explain it. Every move Biden has made has been anti-American. From destroying our energy independence resulting in double the price of gas and diesel at the pump, to the failed surrender of Afghanistan to the Taliban, to creating an economic recession, and on and on and on… Not a single move Biden made was for the good of America.

Biden himself appears totally lost at times. In the above picture, he is shown finishing a speech (reading from a teleprompter) and turning to shake someone’s hand who is not there. The guy is senile and lost. We really have no idea who is running and destroying this country.

Because of this, Biden and the Uniparty must have plans to steal the 2022 mid-terms. There is no way they can win legitimately. Why wouldn’t they steal the election? They got away with the 2020 Election steal with the only arrests related to those who protested the steal. To think they won’t steal the next election would be ignorant.

What is really scary is what these monsters could do with a couple more seats in the Senate and House. America will be lost forever. HR1 will be first, elections will be gone forever and the communists will fully take over.

Who foments violence in America?

Our nation is being brutalized by violence in city after city: N.Y., Chicago, Baltimore, St. Louis, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, and more. Criminals are being allowed to run free among law-abiding citizens in Democrat-run cities throughout the country. Soros-backed D.A.s were promoted precisely to do what they are doing: foment crime and chaos. Let the homicidal, drug-addled among our increasingly violent population run free to do what they do.

During the summer of 2020, BLM and Antifa wrought violence and did billions of dollars in damage across America. The Democrat left supported those riots and raised money to bail out the perpetrators no matter what they had done. Our media supported the rioters, too; they love nothing better than exacerbating an already explosive situation. The media do not investigate the obvious possibility that the rioters were recruited and paid to do what they do. Ask one of them why they are rioting, and you will get a blank look. They may be doing it for a paycheck, not principles or ideology.

If only more Americans realized how contrived such domestic violence is and how planned and orchestrated by the left the events of January sixth were. We are all pawns in their Marxist/Stalinist plot to make the U.S. part of a globalist/communist bloc administered by the ghouls at the World Economic Forum.

Who is it that wants to strip Americans of their Second Amendment right to bear arms? The Democrat radicals, of course. How better to control a population once they have been stripped of any and all means to defend themselves? Ask Stalin, Hitler, and Mao. That is precisely how they began the genocides each of those tyrants committed against his own people. This left of ours has such contempt for us, is certain we are so ignorant, that we do not know this essential fact of history that we can be fooled into relinquishing perhaps the most important of our basic civil rights.

"You will own nothing and be happy" is just one of their mantras. They, the globalist elites, view the vast numbers of the world's population as "useless" peons to be brought under their control. Yuval Hariri is Klaus Schwab's closet adviser. These are well and truly evil people, as if out of a science fiction horror film. It is who they are. They include members of the WEF. They include Pelosi, Schumer, Soros, Bill Gates, Anthony Fauci, and the mad scientists who do his bidding. They include our wholly propagandistic media, including Fox News of late. Fox News too is too cowardly to buck the mandates of the left. They too pushed the experimental vaccines that have done incalculable damage to so many. And now they mean to jab even babies, who are not remotely at risk of dying of COVID. The globalists are committing a planned and executed violent crime against humanity. Pity the families who do not realize that the jabs may well be lethal.

Leftists love mass shootings, almost to the point that one might wonder, do they solicit them? They seem to always serve their cause. We know that the FBI recruited the misanthropes who got on board their "kidnap Governor Whitmer" scheme. Those men were framed. The events of January sixth were easily as likely to have been planned and executed by the FBI in conjunction with known collaborators in Antifa and BLM. Why have we not learned where that deceased shooter in Uvalde got the cash to purchase the high-tech weapons he used to kill all those children? Why did the local police let him have his way without interruption? Where did the mass murderer in that Buffalo market learn to shoot like a military pro? Leftists love these horrific events because they think they can build on them, use them to strip all law-abiding citizens of their right to defend themselves. Do they make them happen? Seems possible.

Catherine Engelbrecht and Gregg Phillips used cell phone data to prove that the Zuckerberg-funded drop boxes were stuffed with harvested and fake ballots to cheat in the 2020 election in numerous states. Now we know that the DOJ used the same technology to track anyone and everyone who was present at the Capitol on January sixth. That is how they tracked down totally innocent Americans and arrested them for being there. As everyone knows, a few hundred of them have been held in prison without due process, some for nearly eighteen months and still without a firm trial date.

D.C. under the Biden administration is operating as Stalin did when he put on his show trials. Our DOJ is acting Stalinist. It is allowing the harassment of our Supreme Court justices even though such protests are against the law. The Biden DOJ is criminally out of control and abusing good citizens. We are living in a surveillance state, and too many people are being illegitimately punished simply for taking their civil rights for granted. The First Amendment has been abrogated.

The violent perpetrators of the riots of 2020, like the criminals wreaking havoc on innocent civilians in cities throughout the nation, have been given free rein to riot, assault, freely use drugs, and murder, all according to the globalist plan to take the U.S. down. Our southern border is now a thoroughfare for migrants from around the world to enter the U.S. illegally at Biden's invitation.

How many Americans will die at the hands of criminal illegals? Too many to count. Perhaps those inevitable deaths are part of the left's vast depopulation strategy. They will occur, as they have so many times already. The man who so senselessly killed Kate Steinle in 2015 has been sentenced to time served. In a sane world, he would have been sentenced to death.

Bottom line? It is the left that foments and relishes violence. Leftists encourage violence. They need it and delight in using it against the rest of us. Consider the pro-abortion groups Jane's Revenge and Ruth Sent Us. Both groups vow to engage in violence if Roe v. Wade is overturned. They do not believe in "choice." They believe in totalitarianism.

Their way or the highway. That pretty much sums up the American left today. Violence to further their cause? Good. The Constitution and the freedoms it guarantees to us all? Bad. Unacceptable. Civil society, family values, the fact of two sexes, education vs. indoctrination, fair elections, American sovereignty? Bad. American civil society is under attack, and too many people are still taking for granted our liberty.
